. hello, it's apoorva

I design & build unique products

I seek to bring five years of professional technical experience to a product manager position

Here are the Projects
I've Worked On

Future of Travel | EaseMyTrip.com

My experience with EaseMyTrip has been quite a journey. I started as an early user and later became a detective of sorts, investigating the world of travel technology. I looked into what the competition was doing and researched thoroughly. But it didn't stop there. I also created profiles of typical users, figured out the main issues people face, and decided which solutions to work on first. To make sure we're on the right track, I set clear goals and ways to measure our progress.

7 Product Teardown

Consistency is indeed the key, and I decided to put this principle into action by taking on the HelloPM's 7 Product Teardown challenge. This thrilling opportunity allowed me to delve deep into the intricate world of product development, examining various aspects and dissecting their strengths and weaknesses.

WhatsApp ✕ AI

Transformed WhatsApp with AI, addressing user needs" implies that artificial intelligence (AI) technology was applied to WhatsApp in a way that improved the platform's functionality and better catered to the requirements and preferences of its users. This transformation likely involved leveraging AI algorithms and capabilities to enhance various aspects of WhatsApp, such as messaging, user experience, personalization, or automation.

Improving Zepto

The goal is to enhance Zepto’s user experience by addressing few key areas, ensuring that long-term users continue to find value in the platform while attracting new customers through improved service quality and user engagement.

Improving Udemy

This project aims to increase Udemy's revenue in the next year by analyzing current revenue streams and identifying areas for improvement. User problems will be identified through behavior and feedback analysis, and effective solutions will be implemented, such as real-world problems, course bundling, and an assessment process for assignments. By prioritizing solutions with the greatest impact on user satisfaction and revenue growth, the project aims to increase Udemy's revenue.

Improving LinkedIn

This is a project that aims to increase engagement and retention on LinkedIn by addressing user problems related to an unproductive feed, challenges with discovery, and lack of relevance. The project prioritizes solutions that align with the company's goal of increasing app usage while also providing users with a more personalized experience. Two solutions have been proposed: segregating the following and exploring tabs and allowing users to choose their following when accepting or sending connection requests.

GrubGo App

One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well. No denial to Virgina Woolfe. Food helps us to boost serotonin and also helps us to socialise and grow bonding with people. We do have various dine-out apps but there are certain things we are still missing which we would like to accomplish with this app idea.

Hooked Model for Starbucks

Could anything be better than writing a case study about your favourite product?! Definitely not. I am a big Java junkie. Starbucks plays a significant role not only in my life but in other people's lives also. It's a go-to destination for quality coffee and a comfortable gathering place.

Consignment Triggers

Designed and developed trigger feature for every leg of consignment reducing the no. of calls to fleet operators by ~80%. Leveraged Jira software to increase on time delivery per sprint by 9%. Managed cross-functional team and stakeholder communication, and oversaw tech development from inception to implementation.

What I Do

I am a Software Engineer, and I enjoy coding. However, even more than the implementation of the logic for code, I enjoy interacting with stakeholders to collect requirements for the applications I build, and laying out the user-centred design specifications. I thrive when dealing with ambiguity and defining the user experience for the products I develop.

Books that enriched my product knowledge.

The Mom Test

"The Mom Test" by Rob Fitzpatrick is an insightful and invaluable guide for entrepreneurs, product managers, and anyone involved in the early stages of product development. With a refreshingly practical approach, this book challenges the traditional methods of customer interviews and offers a framework to gather honest and reliable feedback.
One of the book's strengths lies in its emphasis on validating assumptions and avoiding the temptation to seek validation for our own ideas. Fitzpatrick guides readers on how to extract honest feedback from potential customers without falling into the trap of confirmation bias.

Hooked

"Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products" by Nir Eyal is a must-read book for anyone who is involved in creating or developing products. Eyal presents a framework for building habit-forming products that are designed to keep users engaged and coming back for more.
The book is divided into four parts that cover the four steps of the Hook Model: trigger, action, variable reward, and investment. Eyal provides numerous real-life examples and case studies throughout the book to illustrate the concepts and to help readers understand how they can be applied to their own products.

Thinking in Bets

Thinking in Bets is probably the best book for decision making that I have read. Poker champion turned decision strategist and speaker Anne Duke draws on examples from business, sports, politics, and (of course) poker to share tools anyone can use to embrace uncertainty and make better decisions.
By shifting your thinking from a need for certainty to a goal of accurately assessing what you know and what you don't, you'll be less vulnerable to reactive emotions, knee-jerk biases, and destructive habits in your decision making. You'll become more confident, calm, compassionate and successful in the long run.
